After entering the Guinness World Records books again over the international break, let’s check out Cristiano Ronaldo’s 15 greatest achievements.

Entering the Guinness World Record books is almost like taking a walk in the park for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has reached so many new milestones in football and outside the sport that breaking records is almost like second nature to him, yet never gets boring.

So, without further ado, let’s check out the top 15 Ronaldo records from the Guinness World Records books.

1. Top International goalscorer of all-time

Ali Daei’s 17-year reign as the all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international football ended on Wednesday as Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed his 109 goal haul.

Ronaldo did so in style by saving his best for last in a World Cup qualifier against Ireland. He fired in two late headers to seal a dramatic 2-1 comeback win. Not only did it seal Portugal all three points, but it also took his international tally up to 111 goals in 180 appearances.

2. Most Champions League goals

134 goals in 175 Champions League games is the best record of any player in the competition’s history.

Ronaldo has scored 15 Champions League goals for Manchester United, 105 for Real Madrid and 14 for Juventus. He is also level with Lionel Messi on a record of eight hat-tricks.

3. Most goals in a UEFA European club competition season (17)

Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao share the record for the most goals in a single season in a UEFA European club competition.

Falcao scored a brilliant 17 goals in 14 Europa League games in 2010/211 to help Porto win the tournament. Meanwhile, Ronaldo scored hit the 17-goal mark to lead Real Madrid to the Champions League in 2013/2014.

4. Consecutive Champions League games scored

Next up for the Ronaldo records is Mr. Champions League having a Guinness World Record for an 11-game goal run between the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns.

5. Top scorers across ALL UEFA club competitions

As already pointed out, Ronaldo is the record Champions League scorer on 134 goals. This tally is also the highest that any player has achieved across any UEFA European club competition.

This includes the Champions League, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, Europa League, UEFA Intertoto Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

6. The oldest player to score a World Cup hat-trick (33 years and 130 days)

 The treble against Spain in Portugal’s World Cup opener was a special one even by Cristiano Ronaldo’s high standards. He was under insane pressure for Russia. Many wrote Portugal off against pre-tournament favorites Spain. However, La Roja had another thing coming.

Ronaldo delivered arguably one of his finest performances to steal the show with a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw. It also saw him become the first Portuguese player in history to score in four consecutive World Cups.

At 33 years and 130 days, he also became the oldest treble World Cup scorer in the Guinness World Record books.

7. Most FIFA World Cup tournaments scored in by a player (4)

In that same game against Spain, Ronaldo also equaled the record for the most World Cups scored in. He has scored in four different editions of the tournament for Portugal (2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018).

Uwe Seeler (West Germany – 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970), Pele (Brazil – 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970) and Miroslav Klose (Germany – 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014) share the record with CR7.

8. Most goals scored in the UEFA European Championships

Aside from winning the Euro 2020 Golden Boot with five goals this summer, Ronaldo surpassed Michel Platini as the all-time top goalscorer of the European Championship. He currently has 14 goals in the tournament.

9. Most successful penalty-taker in La Liga

Ronaldo took an incredible 72 penalties in La Liga alone for Real Madrid between 2009-18. The Portuguese ace scored 61 of them to become the most successful spot-kick taker ever seen in Spain.

A fellow Real Madrid icon in Hugo Sanchez follows him in a close second with 56 penalties scored.

10. Highest-rated player in FIFA 18

According to Guinness, Ronaldo was the highest-rated player in FIFA 18 with an overall rating of 99%. His closest rivals, Lionel Messi and Pele, got a 98% rating in comparison.

This came thanks to EA Sports introducing a new FIFA 18 Team of the Year, which included a new FIFA 18 Ultimate Team card that boosted a player’s stats.

11. Most followers for an athlete on Twitter

As of 05 September 2021, Ronaldo (@Cristiano) is the most popular athlete on Twitter with 94.1 million followers.

His closest rival on the social media platform is LeBron James (@KingJames). The NBA legend has 50.1 million followers, which is around 44 million less than Ronaldo.

12. Most followers on Instagram for an athlete

Another typical entry for Ronaldo records is being the most followed athlete on Instagram (@Cristiano). He has 338 million followers on the image-led social network as of 05 September 2021.

13. Most followed person on Instagram

As well as being the most followed athlete on Instagram, Ronaldo is the most followed person in the world.

The Manchester United star’s tally of 338 million followers comfortably beats American wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson and (267m followers) and singer Ariana Grande (264m followers).

As of the same date, only Instagram itself, with 420 million followers, has more than CR7.

14. Most viewed Wikipedia page for an athlete (male)

 Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia that is used by millions of users around the world. It’s a useful source of information collected by thousands of volunteer editors using a wiki-based editing system. You’ll be hard pushed to find better data on something elsewhere.

All the most famous sports stars have their own Wikipedia pages, which detail their backgrounds and careers. And unsurprisingly, the most visited one of all is CR7’s one. The Guinness World Record books have stated that over 48 trillion visitors have viewed Ronaldo’s Wiki profile alone.

15. Most likes for an athlete on Facebook

In the popularity department, Ronaldo has no equal. The Real Madrid legend, as in Instagram and Twitter, has the most liked profile of any athlete on Facebook.

As of 5 September 2021, Ronaldo’s Facebook has a staggering 149 million followers. He has held this record since 2016 and will probably keep it for many years to come.
