Real Madrid left it late to record a 3-2 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League. Antonio Conte takes the positives from that result.

Antonio Conte and Inter Milan find themselves in a delicate position after yet another game without a win in the Champions League.

Goals from Lautaro and Perisic brought Inter back level after Benzema and Sergio Ramos fired Real Madrid ahead.

It wasn’t enough however for the Nerazzurri to leave the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano with a result.

Conte could only watch on in despair as Rodrygo came from the bench to grab the winner ten minutes from time. Inter are now bottom with only two points in Group B after half the fixtures have been played.

Despite what the implications of that result could mean, the Italian manager says he will gladly take some positives from the game.

“The result of course leaves a bitter taste in the mouth but these matches show that the team is improving.” Conte said as per the Serie A website.

“I don’t know how many teams would have the character to play this sort of game in Madrid. We went down by two, brought it back and could have made it 3-2.”

“This team is taking strides to grow in all aspects. Unfortunately, the results aren’t rewarding us but these sort of performances have to give us more confidence and strength in our desire to return to being a respected team.”

“The group is improving on the European stage but there are no shortcuts, we just need to pay more attention to the small details.”

Conte says his players can go home proud of the performance they put up against the Spanish giants.

“We go home with a tough result but we’re convinced of what we can do.” he added.

“We played an excellent game against a side such as Real Madrid who had been talking of the match as though it was a final for three days.”

Inter have another potential tough match when they switch their focus back to the Serie A. Antonio Conte and company will travel to take on Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. Both sides come off the back of a loss from midweek and will be eager to get back to winning ways.
