Antonio Conte provided his analysis of Christian Eriksen’s situation with Inter Milan. Here’s what he had to say.

Antonio Conte urges that Christian Eriksen already received plenty of chances to fix his spot at Inter Milan. Moreover, he said that a change in the Denmark international’s position will not take place. Eriksen was fighting to secure a stable position at the Italian club after his departure from Tottenham. The fact that the Danish midfielder joined Nerazzurri in the middle of the previous campaign, he could not settle in. However, Eriksen remained as a tangent for Conte at San Siro from the beginning of the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old started only three of Inter’s five Serie A matches before the international break. Moreover, he was taken off on all occasions by the Italian boss. Eriksen’s failure to provide his ideal contribution to the team raised questions for Conte. And some mentioned that his position should be tickled to a more defensive role.

Manager’s point of view.

Conte believes that a change in the playmaker’s position would be misleading. And the head coach is not sure about Romelu Lukaku’s advice on learning Italian. “I don’t know about the language. As I said before, I always make choices for the good of Inter, and therefore I try to do everything in the right way,” the former Chelsea boss told the media. “Eriksen has had many opportunities since the beginning of the year and has played more than many team-mates.”

“When I deem it appropriate, he will play in the opening 11 or in a game in progress, otherwise I will make other decisions. As for the role, in my opinion, he cannot play in front of the defense. He has an important shot, right and left, so putting him in front of the defense would totally distort him. This is my technical evaluation.”
