After winning the Lega Serie A title, Antonio Conte wanted to hail Inter Milan’s achievements throughout the entire season in Italy.
Antonio Conte did the unthinkable with Inter Milan in Serie A this season, he wanted to congratulate all his players. Ending Juventus’ nine-year streak was amongst the most complicated tasks any Italian clubs could undertake. Funny enough, Conte was the man who started that streak when he took control of Juventus back in the 2011-12 season.
It happened right after AC Milan won the Serie A under Massimiliano Allegri. Destiny was the one who wanted Conte to be the man who ended this streak while coaching a different football club. At the Nerazzurri, the Italian manager found the ideal formula for success that currently has Inter at the top of Serie A. But none of this would’ve been possible if it wasn’t for all the players whom Conte led to this new championship.
Conte knows the value of his players at Inter.
This is what Conte said on Inter TV: “It’s clear that, when you face the best, you have the possibility to understand you level. Beating the team that have won the Scudetto nine years in a row and created a significant gap, had great importance for me, in terms of self-esteem, self-awareness. It could turn out to be a boomerang, to make ourselves presumptuous and excessively sure of our means but did well to capitalize on that game in the right way and continuing on our path.
“Honestly, I didn’t imagine that the balance of power could change so much after one round. I had predicted a very tight championship and it actually was, except for Inter, who took their own path and has reached the finish line. One team, ours, have done extraordinary things and have detached ourselves from the others. We have done something unexpected, also in terms of how it was done.”
