The Spurs have edged out Brighton in the race to sign the Udinese youngster.

Tottenham have announced the signing of Destiny Udogie from Udinese.

The teenager will play the current season on loan at Udinese before moving to north London next summer. According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have completed the move for around €25m.

“The defender has agreed a deal that will run until 2027 and will return to the Serie A side on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season,” an official statement from the Spurs reads.

Having started his career in the academy ranks of Hellas Verona, Udogie made his senior debut in 2020.

A move to Udinese saw the Italian star establish himself as one of the most promising defenders in Serie A

Last season, he scored five goals and provided four assists for the Bianconeri, attracting interest from a host of clubs from Italy and abroad.

Brighton were reportedly pushing to sign the 19-year-old before Tottenham. However, it seems Spurs’ offer has convinced the defender to continue his career in London.

“It was an easy choice for me, I’m proud to join a top club like Tottenham”, Udogie said (via Fabrizio Romano).

“It’s a dream for me to join a top club like Tottenham. It was an easy choice as they’ve Antonio Conte, really top manager”.
