Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund will be playing their Champions League quarter-finals at their respective stadiums.
Manchester City will be playing their first leg of the Champions League quarter-final versus Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side will be delighted to hear this news, which was affirmed to Goal by UEFA.
Due to the advent of the pandemic, City was forced to travel to Puskas Arena in Budapest to play both the legs of the round of 16 against Borussia Monchengladbach.
However, as per previous planning, the home game of the quarter-final for the Cityzens will be conducted in Manchester on April 6. Along with this decision, the second leg between the teams will be staged at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on April 14.
If we may recall, City was set to play the first leg of the pre-quarters at Borussia Park. But as England battled the new strain of Covid-19 during that period, the squad could not enter Germany.
The return fixture was supposed to be held at Etihad but was changed with the instructions given by the German government. The reason for this change was that the Bundesliga club would have to quarantine if they came back from the UK.
Nevertheless, it is highly possible that the matches could be moved to a different location again if needed. This could happen if there is a policy change from either the UK or the German government.
