The Blues will have another one of their defenders leave the club this summer.
Monaco have confirmed the signing of Chelsea’s Malang Sarr on a one-year loan deal.
The Frenchman made only 21 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions last season.
Following the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly last week, the Blues have preferred to send the centre-back on a loan deal as he looks for more game time.
Speaking to Monaco’s website the 23-year-old said: “I am very happy to join AS Monaco and to be back in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, a league in which I started and which I know well.
“I would like to thank the club for its confidence. I am now looking forward to blending in with my new surroundings and getting to know my new teammates, with the desire to achieve a lot together.”
Monaco have confirmed they will have an option to make Sarr’s contract permanent next summer.
According to Daily Telegraph, the French side can sign the centre-back for €12m after his loan spell ends. Sarr, who made his senior Chelsea debut last season, arrived at the club on a free deal in August 2020.
The French defender can make his first appearance for Monaco when they take on Rennes on Saturday.
