We have all the Player Ratings for this tough World Cup Qualification fixture between Colombia and Uruguay.

It was a crucial evening for Colombia as they took on the sixth place Uruguay in the World Cup 2022 Qualifiers. The hosts kicked off their campaign in quite a fashion with a 3-0 victory against Venezuela and a 2-2 draw with Chile. It was a great advantage for Colombia to reach the top of the table playing at Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez. However, things did not start well for the locals as Uruguay put on the early pressure.

A defensive error from Los Cafeteros handed the visitors a chance to open things up for the night. The Cagliari winger Nahitan Nandez pounced on the opportunity to pass the ball on to Edinson Cavani. In turn, the Manchester United striker toe-poked the ball past David Ospina. La Celeste completely dominated the first half, with crisp and clear performance. The Colombians went to the dressing room with plenty to work on after falling behind in the 5th minute.

Suarez and substitute Nunez put things to bed.

It was the Atletico Madrid superstar who netted his 63rd goal for his country from the 6-yard spot. James Rodriguez lost the ball in the center of the field, and a reckless tackle in the penalty box provided Uruguay the extra cushion. It was a poor display of football from the locals who could not handle the constant threat from their South American neighbors.

To end things with style, Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score an absolute 30 meters strike. Lucas Torreira provided the ball to the Benfica forward, who could not help but take a shot from a long distance. Nevertheless, the Uruguayans deserved the win because of their impregnable execution over their opponents. The three essential points now bring Oscar Tabarez’s side to the fourth spot of the CONMEBOL qualification table.
