The newly-arrived midfielder will take on more defensive duties in the upcoming season.
Christophe Galtier has backed ‘explosive’ Renato Sanchez to find his place in Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield.
Following an impressive campaign at Lille, Sanchez has arrived at PSG on a €15m deal ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder will join Galtier’s star-studded squad, giving him a fresh option in the middle of the Park.
“Renato Sanches is a player with qualities that others do not have,” Galtier said.
“Particularly if I compare him with Marco Verratti and Vitinha. He is an explosive player who makes a difference on the pitch with his runs.”
The newly-appointed coach added: “He is arriving quite late on.
“I don’t think he has played much in his preparation games because he was expecting to move clubs, so he will be a bit behind the others.
“He is a completely different player in terms of his explosive qualities and his ability to break the lines in the midfield, and he can also make a big impact defensively.”
Sanches’ arrival comes ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum’s imminent move to Roma. The Portuguese star can play his PSG debut when the Parisians meet Clermont Foot in their Ligue1 opener on Saturday.
