If Manchester United do drop Erik ten Hag, Chris Sutton believes there is one manager the Red Devils must target to replace the Dutchman.
Ange Postecoglou is the manager that Manchester United must target if Erik ten Hag leaves, according to Chris Sutton.
Postecoglou has enjoyed a magnificent start at Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs lead the Premier League and remain unbeaten after 10 games under their new coach. They are already 11 points ahead of the eighth-place United, who have floundered in Ten Hag’s second season.
The manager’s handling of players like Jadon Sancho has also reportedly affected team morale.
Sutton, speaking on the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ podcast, has now suggested a candidate for United to consider if they were to part with Ten Hag.
“Big Ange,” the former Blackburn and Chelsea striker said.
“I don’t want to keep going on about big Ange. But when he first came in at Tottenham, there was this campaign saying ‘hashtag Postecoglou Out’.
“Where are these people now? Where are you?”
In 76 matches, Ten Hag has collected 49 victories, eight draws, and 19 defeats at United. He led the club to the Carabao Cup in his first season.
The 53-year-old will hope to get back on the right foot on Wednesday when United welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford for a Carabao Cup game in the last 16.
