The Blues are scanning the market for defensive recruitments this summer.

Juventus has reportedly turned down Chelsea’s offer of swapping Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic for Matthijs de Ligt.

Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the Blues have been eyeing moves for several defenders.

Last week, there were reports about Chelsea’s interest in swapping Werner or Pulisic to bring De Ligt from Juventus. English sources claimed the Blues are willing to pay a £40million to complete the swap deal.

However, according to Tutto Sport, the Bianconeri have rejected Chelsea’s offer. The Italian outlet claims Juve only want cash for the player and won’t accept a swap deal.

Juventus are keen to add a new forward to their ranks this summer. But Massimiliano Allegri is ‘not crazy’ about any of these two players.

The Bianconeri reportedly value De Ligt at around £86m, which is £10m more than what they paid for him in 2019. That could make the Dutchman the most expensive defender in history, surpassing Virgil van Dijk’s £75m move to Liverpool.

Paying £86m for De Ligt would also limit Chelsea’s ability to pursue other deals this summer, with new owners reportedly allocating £200m for their first transfer window.

Following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea are scanning the market for a new forward.

Raheem Sterling, Ousmane Dembele, and Richarlison are the Blues’ top targets. But it seems Tuchel’s side are prioritizing a move for a new defender.
