Chelsea welcome Rennes to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

This fixture means top and bottom of group E will take on each other. On paper, it’s expected to be a win for Frank Lampard and company.

The Blues will be eager to follow up from an impressive Premier League 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday. That result means Chelsea are now unbeaten in their last six games (all competitions). The Blues have also kept a clean-sheet in four of those games.

Rennes, meanwhile, have made an impressive start to the Ligue 1 season. Julien Stephan’s side are currently third after nine games but they’ve been unable to replicate that form in the Champions League.

The Red and Blacks have just the single point in the group thanks to a 1-1 draw with Krasnodar in their opening game. In addition to that, they are currently on a five-match losing streak away from home in major European competitions. Once again, Chelsea are well-primed to win this one.

Chelsea Form and Stats

Chelsea look to really be getting to cohesion under Frank Lampard following a positive run of results.

Their previous issues came in the defensive department, but the introduction of Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva has seen an upturn in form. Chelsea have kept five clean sheets in their last six games in all competitions.

Lampard’s side have won their last two games, starting with a 4-0 thrashing of Krasnodar in the Champions League. On Saturday, they defeated Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor in the Premier League.

Chelsea took home the three points thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner.

Key Team Stats
  • Chelsea have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 matches (all competitions).

  • Chelsea have won 8 of their last 11 matches at home (all competitions).
  • Chelsea have scored 13 goals in their last 4 home matches (all competitions).

Rennes Form and Stats

Rennes’ form has been on and off much recently, with the Ligue 1 side winning just one of their last six games in all competitions.

Regardless of that, they are 3rd in the Ligue 1 table with 18 points from 9 matches. Rennes had lost back-to-back games before finally getting three points at the weekend.

Julien Stephan’s team lost 2-1 at home to Angers in Ligue 1 before suffering a 1-0 defeat away to Sevilla in the Champions League.

On Saturday, they came back from 1-0 down to beat Brest 2-1 thanks to goals from Damien Da Silva and Naif Aguerd.

  • Rennes have won 1of their last 6 matches (all competitions).
  • Rennes have lost 2 of their last 3 matches (all competitions).
  • Rennes haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 6 matches (all competitions).
