The striker joined Chelsea on the transfer deadline day but hasn’t been able to make his debut for the Blues.

Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will start training at Chelsea with a protective mask.

The Gabonese striker sustained a jaw injury during a violent robbery at his Barcelona house.

Chelsea went on to complete a deadline-day transfer for the former Arsenal captain. However, he wasn’t able to feature in his side’s 2-1 win over West Ham as he awaited receiving a protective mask.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League opener against Dynamo Zagreb, Tuchel revealed Auba will start training as soon as this Sunday.

“Auba will train on Sunday but I cannot tell you yet if it’s full contact or individually,” the German boss told reporters.

“We’ll need to see. He has the mask and the doctors tell me the mask is good and he feels comfortable with it.

“So he would be okay but we need to check it and we need to check it with no contact, half-contact, and then full contact. We need to see how he feels with it. It’s too early to make a prediction but he’ll be in training.”

Aubameyang returns to Premier League after a short spell at Barcelona. The experienced striker hopes to make his second debut in the English top-flight when the Blues take on Fulham next Saturday.
