Having suffered an unexpected dip in form, the Blues might look to freshen things up in the current transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel found a brilliant start to his second season in charge of Chelsea. The Blues spent several weeks on top of the table before seeing their campaign hampered by personnel issues.

However, even after the return of some of his key players, Tuchel has struggled to return his side back to winning ways. The London side have fallen away in the Premier League title race, sitting 12 points below leaders Manchester City.

In a press conference on Saturday, Tuchel opened up on the possibility of signing new players this month.

Speaking ahead of his side’s upcoming game against Tottenham, the German manager said (via Evening Standard): “I cannot say no to it. Also, I am not convinced it is a clear yes.”

He added: “It is a bit [of] proof that the schedule we had in particular was a bit too much at the same time where we struggled with injuries.

“First it was the midfield and then in the second period it was all strikers and now suddenly it is all defenders who are out. It is a bit awkward to deal with it. We struggled to deal with it and find the same rhythm, find the same consistency in our results. This is proven.”

Chelsea are looking to find a replacement for Ben Chilwell, who suffered a season-ending injury last month. The Blues have negotiated with Lyon to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell. However, the Ligue 1 side has rejected their offers so far.

Another transfer target is Ousmane Dembele, whose time at Barcelona seems to be over. Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign the Frenchman. But it is not clear whether they would sign him now or they will wait for a free summer move.
