The Blues have lofty ambitions for this season in the Premier League, but Hasselbaink believes more additions are required.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Chelsea to seek reinforcements in their center-half and midfield options to bolster their hopes for this season.

Roman Abramovich bankrolled several big-money signings over the summer transfer window, including Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech. These arrivals have naturally raised expectations.

Perhaps one of Frank Lampard’s best moves, however, was signing Thiago Silva on a free transfer. He may be 36, but the former PSG skipper’s experience and leadership abilities have proven a most useful asset to the defense.

But another proven center-back is necessary in the opinion of Hasselbaink, who reckons Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu could be a brilliant coup.

“A lot of people are talking about Kalidou Koulibaly, but he’s 29 years old and would be very expensive,” said the former Blues striker as quoted on Metro.

“I actually quite like the Leicester defender, Caglar Soyuncu. I think he’d be very good at Chelsea.

“Also the defender at Inter, Milan Skriniar – everybody is talking about him, another very good player.

“So there are players out there, but it’s such a difficult position to fill at the moment.”

Hakim Ziyech, on the other hand, has bolstered Lampard’s squad through his excellent vision, creativity, and composure on the ball. While Kai Havertz hasn’t quite hit his stride in London yet.

Hasselbaink added: “I would also like to see another creative midfielder.

“I like Mason Mount, but maybe somebody to play alongside him.

“Havertz is there, I know, but you want healthy, quality competition in that area. I don’t think Chelsea are far off at all.”
