The Blues are on the verge of finalizing their first signing under Graham Potter.

Chelsea are closing in on signing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

The Blues hoped to move Nkunku to Stamford Bridge this winter. But Leipzig have refused to part ways with their star winger mid-season.

According to Mirror, the Frenchman will arrive at Chelsea in June next year.

Nkunku had a £53m release clause in his Leipzig contract. But the Premier League giants have agreed to pay a higher fee to avoid competition from other clubs.

Chelsea will also enjoy a flexible payment structure that allows them to spread the cost over several seasons.

Signing Nkunku is another step by Chelsea to cover for the departures of the likes of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.

The 25-year-old established a reputation as one of the best European forwards after scoring 35 goals for Leipzig last season.

Nkunku was also a top candidate to play on the left-hand side of France’s attacking line in the World Cup. But he suffered a knee injury a few weeks before the Qatar tournament.

In addition to Nkunku, Chelsea are on the verge of completing a move for Leipzig’s technical director Christopher Vivell.

According to Telegraph, Vivell received his work permit on Friday and will soon start his job at the London club.
