Frank Lampard wants to reinforce his defensive ranks and has identified the Brighton & Hove Albion captain as a priority target.

Chelsea managed to surpass expectations in 2019/20. Frank Lampard was not supposed to deliver Champions League qualification but he did in his debut season at the Stamford Bridge.

The Blues legend has the club’s backing and will be backed in the transfer market. While attacking additions have been made, the porous backline needs attention as well.

Lewis Dunk has been identified as a key target alongside Ben Chilwell. The interest in the defender is high. Both Leeds United and Manchester United have also been linked with his services.

However, it seems Brighton are unwilling to let their captain go. Lewis Dunk will stay at Falmer Stadium for the time being.

Reflecting on the rumors, transfer expert Alex Crook shared insider information from Brighton. Chelsea have not made an approach for the defender yet and he is staying in familiar surroundings.

“I’ve spoken to people very close to the player and spoken to my sources at Brighton,” Crook told talkSPORT.

“They haven’t received a bid from Chelsea, and they wouldn’t welcome one.”

“Lewis Dunk is happy on the south coast and I’m told he’s 95 per cent certain to stay a Seagulls player.”

“We know Leeds are desperate to get him, and there have been other clubs linked as well,” Crook added.

“I’m not too sure clubs like Manchester United will be looking at Ben White at this stage. I think he’s a player with great potential but he hasn’t played above the Championship yet; it would be a massive gamble for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“Bielsa loves him and he fits into the system at Leeds, but Brighton want to keep him and certainly do not want to sell him to a relegation rival – and they would deem Leeds in that category.”

“He is expected to stay.”
