Thomas Tuchel says Chelsea might have to play without two key players against Man United.
Chelsea smashed Juventus 4-0 in their Champions League game on Wednesday. The Blues have maintained their incredible form despite several injury setbacks in their squad. However, they have to deal with new injuries in their squad ahead of their upcoming game against Manchester United.
Thomas Tuchel substituted both Ben Chilwell and N’Golo Kante during the victory against Juventus. In a post-match interview, the German manager provided an injury update on the pair.
“[Chilwell] has a sharp pain in the knee. N’Golo as well. He twisted his knee a little bit, we will tell you tomorrow more when both will be examined,” the Chelsea boss told BT Sport after the match.
“These are very sad because N’Golo was fantastic until this moment when he went off. Chilly is in a fantastic moment, so so important and for him personally so so strong, so we hope for the best.”
The pair might miss the upcoming Chelsea clash against Manchester United. Kante’s injury seems less severe than that of Chilwell. According to the Telegraph, the defender might have suffered an ACL injury last night.
The Blues are on a quest to remain on the top of the Premier League table. They are only two points ahead of Man City, who have returned to top form in recent weeks.
