After signing for the Blues in January, David Datro Fofana will continue his development in Germany with Champions League newcomers Union Berlin.
David Datro Fofana, a Chelsea striker, has joined the Bundesliga club Union Berlin on loan for the 2023/24 season.
This move will give Fofana a chance at regular first-team football. It will also allow him to play in the Champions League, as Union finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season.
Speaking to the club’s website, Fofana said he is excited to join Union and is determined to repay their faith.
“The club has made a long and hard effort to find me,” he said. “Now I want to repay that with good performances.”
Union’s football managing director, Oliver Ruhnert, said Fofana’s speed and offensive qualities made him an attractive prospect to the team.
The 20-year-old Ivorian impressed at Molde in Norway. He managed 24 goals and 10 assists in 60 games before joining Chelsea in January for €12 million. He has made four appearances for the senior team and two at U-21 level with the Blues.
