The new Chelsea star’s skills have caught the eye of everybody, and he credits a ‘world-class’ club legend for his development.

Hakim Ziyech has revealed the respect he holds for Eden Hazard’s skills and how he studies them to improve his own game.

The former Ajax man has made a fine start to his Blues career after overcoming early injury setbacks and is quickly establishing himself in Frank Lampard’s line-up.

He has delivered a string of eye-catching displays already, leading to comparisons with former Chelsea stars Cesc Fabregas and Hazard. Out of the two players, though, it’s the latter who has influenced Ziyech.

“Eden is a world-class player,” said Ziyech as quoted on Yahoo.

“You always take inspiration from that, how he plays the game. You always look at the small things, how he does stuff – and I can learn a lot from him.”

The Morocco international, meanwhile, started in last weekend’s 0-0 derby draw against Tottenham. He couldn’t make the desired impact and came off in the 83rd minute for Kai Havertz.

But while the stalemate ended Chelsea’s six-match winning run in all competitions, they’re still just two points behind Tottenham and Liverpool in the Premier League standings to keep hopes of a first title since 2016/17 very much alive.

“Of course we can make a challenge,” Ziyech said on Chelsea’s title prospects.

“You always have to believe in it. It starts from believing in it and then working every day harder. At the need of the day we will see what it brings.

“But you have to believe it is possible, and that is what we are doing. We believe it.”
