New Chelsea summer signing believes that there are “better chances” of winning the Champions League under Frank Lampard.

Chelsea will move forward with their Champions League campaign on Wednesday as they play Rennes at Stamford Bridge. So far, the Blues have drawn the opening game vs Sevilla following an outstanding victory against Krasnodar. Last season though, Frank Lampard’s side managed to finish fourth on the Premier League table. And, moreover, Chelsea exited the major European tournament at the hands of the German giants Bayern Munich. However now, the new singing Timo Werner believes that his team will perform better in the tournament this season. The German international said: “I hope so.”

“I think we’re in the time now when every team plays every three days. Every team that plays in the Champions League is difficult to beat.

“We have a big squad, so many players but also good players, so we have to have the goal to go very far in the competition.

“We are here to win the Champions League and this year is a good chance. Everyone has a lot of games and have to think about how they manage it.

“I think we have a good chance this year or next year [to win the Champions League]. I came here to win titles.

“We are in a good way and we learn from each other and we have a good chance to go very far.

Inspired by his new team.

Evidently, Werner now has five goals for his new account after moving from RB Leipzig this summer. Furthermore, he admits that he is bound to know different things under Lampard and the entire squad.

“I think the first ten games were really good for me,” he added. “I have already learned a lot.

“It is different from German football due to the way we play. It is a lot of fun to play here. We have a good team.

“Since everyone has been fit and come out of quarantine, we have become a very good team. For me, it makes it a lot of fun.

Additionally, Chelsea will return to the English League this weekend with a game against Sheffield United.
