The Blues have had a lucky escape, as Nicolas Jackson won’t be facing any charges from the FA over his behavior in the Everton game.
The Football Association (FA) won’t be taking any action against Nicolas Jackson for his conduct against Everton.
During Sunday’s 2-0 loss at Goodison Park, Jackson was involved in a clash with Nathan Patterson. He put his hands around the neck of the Everton defender. Surprisingly, referee Michael Oliver chose not to send him off, allowing Chelsea to continue playing with 11 men.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side can also select Jackson for Saturday’s home game against Sheffield United in the Premier League.
The €37 million summer signing from Villarreal has had a somewhat sluggish start in London. Despite a hat-trick against Tottenham last month, he has only scored in four out of his 15 Premier League games for Chelsea. This leaves him with a total of six goals scored.
Interestingly, Jackson’s seven yellow cards are the joint-highest tally in the Premier League, alongside West Ham duo Edson Alvarez and Emerson.
The incident between Nicolas Jackson and Nathan Patterson at full-time on Sunday – where the #CFC striker appeared to grab the throat of the #EFC defender – was reviewed by match officials at the time.
