The Catalans are eyeing a move for Marcos Alonso ahead of the next season.

Marcos Alonso has expressed his desire to continue his career in Spain, with Barcelona keeping tabs on him as one of their summer transfer targets.

According to several English outlets, Alonso has already told Chelsea he wants to end his six-season spell at the club. The Spaniard’s current deal at Stamford Bridge runs until 2024, but Barcelona are reportedly confident they can sign the defender.

The Catalans are yet to discover the Blues’ asking price for the star defender. However, Alonso has already started to put Chelsea under pressure to reach an agreement with the Spanish giants.

Speaking to OndaCero about his future, the Spanish star said: “On paper I have one more year of contract and that is what there is until today I’ve already said other times that I would like to [return to Spain] but it doesn’t depend entirely on me.

“There are two games left here [with Spain] and then it’s time to rest.

“I’ve played 50 games, we’ve been world champions, we’ve had bad luck in the cup finals.

“I can’t complain about anything at Chelsea but the desire to play in Spain is there. It doesn’t depend entirely on me and I’m happy at Chelsea, I’m sincere.”
