Chelsea’s injury issues have mounted during the first few weeks of the new campaign.

Chelsea will reportedly have Moises Caicedo back for their next Premier League but should wait longer for Romeo Lavia’s return.

The midfield pair were added to Chelsea’s long list of injured players, which includes the likes of Reece James, Armando Broja, and Christopher Nkunku.

Caicedo suffered a knee injury while playing for Ecadur during the international break, while Lavia is yet to make his debut for the Blues.

According to the Evening Standard, Caicedo’s injury is not serious. The English outlet has claimed the former Brighton star could return to Chelsea’s matchday squad for their match against Aston Villa this weekend. Marc Cucurella and Noni Maduekeare are also close to completing their rehab process, hoping to make their returns against Villa.

However, things are different for Lavia, who is expected to stay on the sidelines until after the next international break in October. Nkunku and Wesley Fofana are also out with long-term injuries, with the former hoping to make his return in mid-December.

Following an underwhelming draw against Bournemouth, Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge, where they host Villa this weekend. The Blues will then meet Brighton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
