The Blues gave a mixed update on their injured quartet ahead of Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Chelsea defenders Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto have recovered from their respective injuries.

Colwill and Gusto had to withdraw from the England and France U-21 squads over the international break with minor injuries. On Monday, though, the pair trained with the rest of the Chelsea team. They completed the training session, indicating their availability for this weekend.

Yet, it wasn’t all good news, as Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are still recovering from injuries. Chelsea have announced the two summer signings continue to do rehabilitation work. Neither of these players have made their competitive Blues debuts so far.

Nkunku, in particular, has been a miss. The €60 million signing from RB Leipzig made a positive impression during the pre-season, before suffering a knee injury.

In a positive development, a host of Chelsea stars have reported back to training. These include captain Reece James, Armando Broja, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Benoit Badiashile, and Robert Sanchez.

The non-international players and manager Mauricio Pochettino had some time off during the break. They’ll hope to return with their batteries fully recharged, with Chelsea facing a tricky trip to Newcastle this Saturday.
