To bolster their attack, the Blues will attempt to sign Aubameyang before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea will meet with Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the upcoming hours to discuss a potential transfer.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano. The reporter claims Chelsea and Aubameyang have had a meeting scheduled for Thursday since last Sunday to discuss personal terms, namely involving the former Arsenal captain’s salary and contract demands.

Afterward, Chelsea will then lodge a first official bid to Barcelona for Aubameyang.

Why do the Londoners want Auba?

The Blues need to reinforce their attack after loaning out club-record signing Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan, as well as selling Timo Werner to his former side RB Leipzig.

Aubameyang, who only joined Barcelona in January, is the striker that Thomas Tuchel wants. The pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund and the manager is keen to reunite in London.

In Aubameyang, Chelsea will get a striker with a proven track record in the Premier League. The Gabonese scored 68 goals in 128 league games for London rivals Arsenal from 2018 until last January.

He also bagged 79 goals in 95 games under Tuchel at Dortmund and has found the back of the net 13 times in 24 outings for Barcelona since joining the LaLiga club from Arsenal at the beginning of the year.
