The England star’s contract negotiations with Chelsea have stalled amid growing interest from Premier League sides.

Graham Potter admitted Mason Mount is not close to signing a new contract at Chelsea.

The former academy star has developed into a key player in the Blues’ attacking line since making his senior debut in 2019. Chelsea’s struggle for form this season has generated serious speculations over Mount’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Widespread reports in English media claim the England international could very well imagine a move away from Chelsea next summer.

According to the Guardian, Mounts forms Manchester United’s three-man target list for the summer alongside Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.

“Sometimes these things happen. It’s best that I let both parties get on with it,” the manager said.

“It’s an important contract for Mason ao these things have to be right for him and his family and it’s important he makes his decision on that basis”.

Mount has registered only three goals and two assists in his 23 Premier League appearances this season. The England international’s current contract will expire in 2024, meaning Chelsea are under pressure to extend his deal before the summer.

The Blues have bounced back from their poor run of form by claiming back-to-back wins over Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund. Potter’s men will lock horns with Leicester City in their next league game on Saturday.
