The Swiss midfielder hasn’t played for Chelsea since completing a loan move from Juventus in the summer.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has confirmed Denis Zakaria will not return to Juventus this January.

A deadline-day move saw Zakaria join Chelsea on a year-long loan deal in the summer. However, the Swiss star hasn’t made his debut for the Blues, even struggling to secure a place on Potter’s matchday squads.

Zakaria’s difficult situation has led to reports about his possible move back to Juve this winter. But Potter insists the midfielder has a place in his plans for Chelsea.

He said: “There’s no decision been made at all on that. Denis has been in the group, he’s been training well.

“He’s ready to help the team, obviously there’s competition for places in that area, but there’s no talk of anything.

“He’s an important member of the team, he’s been patient and he’s trying to help the team from the side at the moment and waiting for his chance.”

Following their fantastic star under Potter, Chelsea will look to claim their sixth consecutive victory by beating Brentford on Wednesday.

The Blues have reached the fourth spot on the Premier League table, hoping to improve their position before hosting Man Utd this weekend.
