Two of the Tuchel’s most clutch players who were having trouble with fitness have made positive progress in their recoveries.

Chelsea have been offered a double injury boost ahead of the Champions League final as both N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy have made their final 25-man squad for the trip to Porto.

Kante sat out Chelsea’s final Premier League of the season due to a hamstring problem picked up in the 2-1 win against former club Leicester City.

Mendy, meanwhile, was forced off the pitch just after half-time during the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa after suffering a strong impact to the ribs following a collision with the post.

Up next for Chelsea is a chance to win the biggest prize in club football, and that chance would significantly diminish without either of the aforementioned players. Fortunately for them, both could feature in the showdown against Manchester City on Saturday.

“N’Golo is looking good and I hope he stays like that for Saturday,” manager Thomas Tuchel told in his pre-match press conference.

“Edou made a huge improvement with the management of pain from when the injury happened, which is good,” he added on the goalkeeper.

“We hope to have him back. If he is fit, then Edou will play.”
