The Blues will continue their pursuit of Caicedo ahead of the next season.

Chelsea are reportedly open to increasing their bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo after reaching an agreement to sell Mason Mount.

Manchester United have decided to meet Chelsea’s £60m demand for Mount. The transfer takes the club’s total revenue from sales to above £200m, putting them in a safe position to avoid financial fair play sanctions.

The Blues are expected to go after their main transfer targets in the coming weeks. Brighton have already rejected a £60m offer for Caicedo, but it seems that won’t be enough to fend off interest from the London giants.

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea are planning to re-invest some of their sales revenue into signing new players. The English outlet claims the club are ready to increase their offer for Caicedo to around £80m.

Caicedo developed into a cornerstone of Brighton’s midfield last season, helping the Seagulls finish sixth in the Premier League. The 21-year-old’s performances attracted interest from Arsenal, who made two official bids for him in January.

The Gunners have, however, pulled out of the race to sign Caicedo as they are in the process of completing a £105m transfer for West Ham’s Declan Rice.
