The Blues are the No.1 candidates to sign Caicedo this summer.
Moises Caicedo has admitted he “can’t say no” to a transfer offer from Chelsea.
Arsenal were the 21-year-old’s main suitors last winter but their two offers were rejected by Brighton. The Seagulls are still insisting on their £100m valuation of Caicedo, but it seems their talks with Chelsea is gaining steam in recent days.
Speaking to TC Deportes’ journalist Maria Jose Flores, the Ecuador international admitted his interest in joining Chelsea.
“It’s a big team, that’s true,” he said. “A very historic team which I can’t say no [to joining] because it’s a very big, historic, beautiful team.
“The city as well is beautiful. It’s got everything beautiful.”
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea are confident that Brighton will lower their demand for Caicedo. The Blues have reportedly made the young midfielder their priority target ahead of the next season.
It seems that Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to reshape Chelsea’s midfield line after their disappointing 2022-23 campaign.
Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the midfielders who’ve left the club so far this summer. But Chelsea are yet to add a new midfielder to their ranks under Pochettino.
Caicedo’s possible signing could be followed by recruiting a new attacking midfielder before the transfer window deadline.
