The Blues are looking to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea have reportedly shown interest in signing Ajax’s Antony, who is among Manchester United’s main summer targets.
Since arriving from Sao Paulo in July 2020, Antony has developed into one of the most promising Eredivisie forwards at Ajax.
Last season, the 22-year-old made 23 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side, helping them claim another Eredivisie title. His performances have attracted interest from Man United, who are preparing for their first campaign under Ten Hag.
However, it seems the Red Devils will have to compete against a Premier League rival for the winger’s signature.
According to 90min, Chelsea officials have already met Antony’s representatives in London.
The Blues have been monitoring the player for months. But they have Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling as backup options.
Chelsea have intensified their efforts to sign a new striker since they agreed to send Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal to Inter. The club were reportedly confident of signing Dembele on a free transfer this summer.
However, new reports from Spanish media claim the Frenchman might end up staying at Camp Nou. Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has reportedly made a final plea to the club’s board to raise funds to keep Dembele.
In case Chelsea fails in their pursuit of Dembele and Sterling, they will most likely double down on their efforts to prevent United from signing Antony.
