Despite coming off with a problem on England U21 duty recently, Cole Palmer appears set to make a swift recovery.

England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley has assured that Cole Palmer’s injury is not a major concern.

Palmer will miss the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine on Monday. The Chelsea midfielder picked up a knock in the first half of a resounding 9-1 victory over Serbia. He appeared with his right thigh bandaged in the second half before Tino Livramento replaced him six minutes later.

“I think Cole would be fine, but we don’t take any chances with any of the players,” Carsley said.

“If there is a slight doubt that they’re going to miss a game at the weekend, we get them back to the clubs as quickly as we can.”

Palmer, hopeful for a swift recovery, aims to return in time for Saturday’s Premier League match against Arsenal.

In other Chelsea injury updates, Armando Broja has returned to Cobham ahead of schedule following a knee ligament injury.

Nicolas Jackson underwent minor wrist surgery, leading to his withdrawal from the Senegal squad.
