The injury-hit Blues now have seven players on the sidelines going into their latest Premier League fixture.

Chelsea captain Reece James is injured again, this time with a hamstring issue.

The 24-year-old got hurt during the 2-0 Premier League loss to Everton on Sunday. This comes after he had already come back in October from a previous hamstring problem.

In a brief statement on Tuesday, Chelsea confirmed James’ injury after the right-back had an assessment. He will start his recovery at Cobham. There is no information on when he will be back.

The setback marks another blow for James, who has only made eight Premier League appearances this season. He has suffered several hamstring and knee injuries since the 2021/22 campaign. He even missed last year’s World Cup in Qatar because of a knee ligament problem.

The England international becomes the seventh player to be sidelined for Chelsea at the moment.

Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Romeo Lavia, and Christopher Nkunku are the other six Chelsea players out.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will return to action on Saturday to play Sheffield United in the Premier League.
