The London club Chelsea managed to reach a mistake-tally equal to their last season after the club drew against West Brom.

Chelsea suffered from a nightmare in the opening 45 minutes of their match against West Brom. They equaled an undesirable figure across the entirety of last season in just three Premier League games.

The Blues conceded three goals in the first half at the Hawthorns. Marcus Alonso cleared with a poor header and allowed Matheus Pereira to assist Callum Robinson. He then managed to put it past Chelsea’s Willy Caballero.

Thiago Silva made his debut in the Premier League. The 36-year-old was caught off guard by Robinson who made his run into the box to score the second goal.

Consequently, West Brom netted the third goal as Chelsea defended a corner poorly. Kyle Bartley scored the third goal for the Baggies.

Evidently, this error already represents the total number of mistakes made by the Blues in the season 2019-20. Last year was Frank Lampard’s first season as a coach.

Moreover, Chelsea conceded their earliest goal since May 2017. In just under four minutes, Robinson managed to punish the London club.

Additionally, Thiago Silva becomes the first outfield player to make a mistake leading to a goal on a debut. Issa Diop was the last one to do it for West Ham against Arsenal in the Premier League in August 2018.

Within 27 minutes, West Brom succeeded to break the Chelsea defense three times. This is not a milestone that Frank Lampard has on his list.

Chelsea was down by three goals against Manchester City in February 2019 as the latter pushed for the title. That was the last time the Blues were 3-0 down in just 19 minutes of the game.

Once again, Saturday’s game displayed the Londoners’ ability to slip during games. Lampard experienced his side concede 42 goals in 21 Premier League away matches.

This is more than any team, which includes the 2019-20 season’s bottom team, Norwich City.

Nevertheless, Chelsea managed to hit back at West Brom. Goals from Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Tammy Abraham secured one point for Lampard’s men. The second-half show provides some hopes for the former Blue player.
