The Blues are open to selling players this January as they look to avoid breaching the Financial Fair Play rules.
Chelsea have reportedly put a £30m price tag on Ian Maatsen amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.
Maatsen was heavily linked with a move to Burnley in the summer but ended up staying at Stamford Bridge. A poor start under Mauricio Pochettino, however, has convinced the club to sell the 21-year-old this winter.
According to Evening Standard, Dortmund are hesitant to meet Chelsea’s £30m demand for the Dutch left-back, planning to sign him on an initial loan deal.
The Blues are eager to raise funds through player sales, hoping to sign a new striker this winter. Widespread reports in the British media have claimed that Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney are Chelsea’s top targets for the position.
However, the prospect of selling enough players to avoid breaching the Financial Fair Play rules looks challenging for the Blues. Most Chelsea players have been added to the squad as part of the club’s squad rebuild under Todd Boehly. Therefore, they are not keen to change clubs only a few months after arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were open to selling Conor Gallagher in January, but the English star is reportedly not interested in accepting any offers mid-season.
