The Blues have added a new winger to their ranks as they continue summer recruitment.

Chelsea have announced the signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The England international emerged as a top-priority target for the Blues after their attacking line’s poor displays last season.

Following a few weeks of negotiations between the clubs, City reportedly accepted to sell the player for £47.5m.

“I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far. But there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’ management,” said Sterling.

“London is my home and where it all started for me.

“It’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.”

Sterling has already linked up with his new teammates, who are in the United States for their pre-season campaign. The England winger becomes the Blues’ first major signing since Todd Boehly’s takeover earlier this year.

In addition to Sterling, Chelsea have reached an agreement to add Kalidou Koulibaly to their squad ahead of the next season.

Negotiations to bring Man City’s Nathan Ake are also in the final stages as Chelsea hope to cover for the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
