The Blues have reportedly wrapped up a deal to sign a young African talent from Senegal.
Chelsea have completed a deal to sign Pape Daouda Dion, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Pape is a 17-year-old who plays as a defensive midfielder for AF Darou Salam. The Senegal U-17 international, who will celebrate his 18th birthday on June 15, is set to become a part of Chelsea’s project.
A fortnight ago, he visited Stamford Bridge for the first time to advance talks with the Premier League team.
At the time of writing, Chelsea have not released an official statement to confirm the deal. But should it indeed go through, Pape will become the club’s first signing of the 2024 summer transfer window.
In the previous transfer window, Chelsea signed 12 players, including five teenagers. The average age of these signings was 21. They cost the Blues a total of €467.8 million.
