The Blues are struggling to find their best form under the Argentine manager.

Ben Chilwell has admitted that Chelsea’s “inexperienced” team calls for leadership from him and Reece James.

The Blues have found a difficult start to the new season despite being the Premier League’s top spenders during the summer transfer window.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea have claimed just one win in their first four games of the new campaign, sitting 12th on the league table.

“It is such a young and new squad. It’s inexperienced in a way. There’s a new manager trying to impart his ideas and it is down to me and Reece [James, captain] to take on responsibility and be leaders in the group and guide the ship a little bit,” the former Leicester City star said.

“Especially in the last few weeks in what could be seen as a bit of a tough time. I kind of just try to guide the ship through that, stay confident and know what talent we have in the squad.”

Chelsea have started the 2023-4 season with 12 new signings, providing Pochettino with a host of options for each position. However, the former Tottenham manager is yet to put together a regular lineup from his sizeable squad.

After the international break, Chelsea will return to action with a Premier League match against Bournemouth on September 17.
