The Blues full-back picked up a knock in Chelsea’s match against Brighton last week.

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is set to stay out of action for two months after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Chilwell played for 90 minutes when Chelsea defeated Brighton in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday. However, Pochettino admitted after the game that the 26-year-old had picked up a “bad injury”. The initial assessment has turned out to be true as Chelsea suffer another massive injury blow.

According to the Telegraph, Chilwell will be sidelined for around eight weeks, missing out on a host of important Chelsea matches. The English star still has a chance to come back in time for late December’s packed schedule, but that’s not guaranteed.

Chilwell joins the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana in Chelsea’s list of long-term injuries. Other players with smaller fitness problems include Moises Caicedo, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka.

Chilwell’s absence will provide more chances for Marc Cucurella, who has struggled to get playing time since Pochettino’s arrival. The Spaniard has played only 35 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.

Following their promising win over Fulham, Chelsea return to action with a league game against Burnley on Saturday.
