The Manchester City boss insists his side still have room for improvement.

A 2-0 victory over Brentford on Wednesday increased Manchester City’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 12 points. The Citizens’ incredible form has persuaded most of the observers that the league’s title race is already over for City’s close rivals.

Pep Guardiola’s side are marching toward their fourth Premier League title in five seasons. The Citizens are also among the top favourites to win the Champions League. However, Guardiola doesn’t consider his side as the best team in the world.

“We are not the best team in the world,” Guardiola said (via Metro).

“The best team is Chelsea, who won the Champions League, or River Plate, who won in South America.

“The important thing is we won the game and in three days we go to Norwich and have to win again.

“This type of thing about who is the best, I don’t care. Just be happy and try to play better every day.”

Asked about the Premier League title race, the City boss responded: “Liverpool have two games to play then we see the gap… 14 games to play, many points to play for and more tough games like today.

“Everyone is tough competition. But, it is impressive at this stage to have 60 points, we have done incredibly well so far.”

Man City will face Norwich City in a league game on Saturday before meeting Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League three days later.
