A nail-biting match saw City and Chelsea settle for a draw at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City drew 4-4 with Chelsea in their Premier League game on Sunday. The EPL drama peaked in the two sides’ final match before the international break.

What happened?

It took a while for both sides to find their feet in the game, as the first 20 minutes saw little goalscoring chances on both ends. However, Erling Haaland’s opening goal for City from the penalty spot completely changed the course of the game in the 25th minute.

Chelsea’s efforts to score an instant equalizer paid off as they made it 1-1 through Thiago Silva only four minutes later. The goal motivated the hosts to complete their comeback before half-time.

Following a few missed chances, Raheem Sterling converted Reece James’ perfect low cross to make it 2-1 for the Blues. But City managed to get back into the game through Manuel Akanju’s equalizer just before the half-time whistle.

The game’s fast rhythm continued right after the break, with Erling Haaland completing his brace to put City ahead again. The goal forced Chelsea to put more bodies forward to score another equalizer.

Finally, Nicolas Jackson made it 3-3 by converting the rebound of Conor Gallagher’s shot from close range in the 67th minute. But the game still had a lot to offer in the final 20 minutes.

First, Rodri scored what looked like another late match-winner for the Citizens in the 86th minute. However, Chelsea’s incredible attacking pressure led to their third equalizing goal of the night five minutes into the extra time.

Ruben Dias’ tackle on Armando Broja convinced the referee to award the hosts a penalty, with Cole Palmer calmly converting the spot-kick.

City’s draw is good news for Liverpool and Arsenal, whose gap to the top of the table reduces to a single point.
