Let’s take a look at the thrilling contest between Chelsea and Southampton at Stamford Bridge. We have the Player Ratings.

Chelsea hosted Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League. After the end of the international break, the Blues hoped to continue the winning habit as they beat Crystal Palace.

Evidently, Frank Lampard’s side did not perform to the standards from the beginning of the new season. Additionally, Chelsea secured only two wins out of their five outings across all competitions.

Early in the 15th minute, Timo Werner displayed a classic dummy move to run past his opponent. The German international dodged past the entire defense line of Southampton to open for Chelsea.

Furthermore, Werner managed to finish cleverly after Jorginho’s dink into the visitors’ defense.

However, Southampton battled hard to get one goal back from the hosts. In the 43rd minute, Danny Ings received a through-ball from Che Adams to slot it past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Early in the second half, blunders from the London club punished Lampard’s side. Kurt Zouma under-hit a pass towards Kepa only to see a mistake by the Spaniard. Consequently, Che Adams blasted a left-foot shot into the roof of the net to equalize for Southampton.

Werner proved to be effective once again on the brink of the one-hour mark. He set up his fellow countryman Kai Havertz for a simple finish past Alex McCarthy.

But the game was not over yet. The Saints pulled a third card out of their pockets with a Jannik Vestergaard goal in the injury time. Once again, Hasenhuttl’s men upset another Premier League club just like the previous season.
