The Spurs held their city rivals to a painful stalemate at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea drew 2-2 against Tottenham in their Premier League match on Sunday. Harry Kane scored a last-minute equaliser as Spurs escaped Stamford Bridge with a point.
A thrilling derby!
The first derby of the new Premier League season saw Chelsea take on Tottenham’s in-form attacking line.
Similar to their 1-0 win over Everton last weekend, Thomas Tuchel’s side successfully established their control early on.
Following a few missed opportunities on both sides, Kalidou Koulibaly put the Blues ahead with a fantastic volley.
Tottenham tried to come back into the game before the half-time whistle but couldn’t make any serious chances.
However, Antonio Conte’s side looked much better in the second half, putting more pressure on Chelsea’s backline from both flanks.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg smashed the ball behind Mendy with a precise low shot as Tottenham made it 1-1 in the 68th minute. However, Chelsea restored their lead through Reece James only nine minutes later.
Conte made two more changes in the final ten minutes, but it seemed Chelsea were on their way to winning the game. The Spurs kept Chelsea under pressure, finally breaking their resistance in the 96th minute.
Ivan Perisic’s corner found unmarked Kane, who headed the ball into the back of the net from close range. Following the final whistle, Tuchel and Conte received red cards from the referee for their angry bust-up.
Chelsea will travel to Leeds United for their next league game on Sunday while Tottenham meet Wolves the day before.
