Madueke scored a late penalty as the Blues returned to winning ways in the Premier League.

Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 in their Premier League game on Wednesday. Mauricio Pochettino’s men clinched a hard-fought victory despite their unimpressive display on home soil.

What happened?

Chelsea’s dominant start to the game paid off when Mykhailo Mudryk put them ahead in the 13th minute. The Ukranian striker converted a precise cutback from Malo Gusto to put the hosts ahead.

However, Palace grew into the game as the first half went on, creating several chances to score the equalizer. Chelsea’s resistance finally broke when Michael Olise made it 1-1 for the visitors just before the half-time whistle.

It took Chelsea a while before they found their feet in the game after the break. However, the Blues managed to increase the pressure on Palace’s backline in the final 20 minutes. Finally, a foul on Noni Madueke resulted in a penalty for Chelsea that secured their victory in the 89th minute. Madueke smashed a precise low shot into the left corner of the net as Chelsea celebrated their seventh Premier League victory of the season.
