Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday. The Blues reached the final for the third consecutive year, thanks to a dominant performance in the second half.

Chelsea are in the FA Cup final!

Both sides started the game with a conservative approach as they aimed to avoid conceding the opening goal. Both teams registered only one shot on target during the first half, which unsurprisingly ended in a goalless draw.

However, the Blues looked much improved after the interval as they managed to establish their dominance in midfield. Following a few half-chances, Ruben Loftus-Cheek finally opened the scoring with a deflected shot in the 65th minute.

Palace tried to bounce back and score a quick equalizer, but their efforts only resulted in Chelsea doubling their lead. In-form Timo Werner provided an assist for Mason Mount, who latched on to the ball inside the box before slotting a precise low shot into the far corner.

Thomas Tuchel’s side had a few more chances to increase their lead, with Romelu Lukaku hitting the post in the dying stages of the game. However, they settled for a 2-0 win as they eliminated Palace from the FA Cup.

What’s next for Chelsea?

Chelsea will face Liverpool in the FA Cup final on May 14. Having lost the tournament’s last two finals, the Blues hope to win their ninth FA Cup title.

Before that, the Blues must return to Premier League, where they host Arsenal in a derby clash on Wednesday.
