The Blues have lost four of their last six Premier League games.

Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in their Premier League match on Thursday. A narrow win was enough for the Citizens to get closer to Arsenal at the top of the league table.

Mahrez with a winner!

Chelsea came into the game on the back of their underwhelming draw against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Similar to that game, Chelsea started by quickly finding their attacking rhythm.

The Blues had the better share of the chances throughout the first period but couldn’t find the back of the net. Carney Chukwuemeka came the closest when he hit the post just before half-time.

City, however, looked much better at the start of the second period.

The Citizens put immense pressure on Chelsea’s backline, attacking them with low and high crosses from both flanks. Pep Guardiola’s men eventually broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute.

Following a precise low cross from Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez slid in at the far post to put City ahead. The Citizens then sat behind and frustrated their opponents with brilliant pressing.

By claiming the crucial three points, City move to within five points of Arsenal at the top of the EPL table.

Chelsea, on the other hand, continue their disappointing start to the second half of the season under Graham Potter. The Blues must prepare to face City again when the two sides meet in the FA Cup this weekend.
