Liverpool are the FA Cup winners!
An eventful first half saw both sides enjoy periods of dominance. However, both sides started becoming increasingly conservative as the game went on.
Luis Diaz came the closest to scoring the match-winner for Liverpool in the 83rd minute. However, his powerful strike bounced off the post to keep the Blues in the game.
Both sides tried to surprise each other by scoring during the extra time, but they remained too cautious of counter-attacks to find any serious chances.
Liverpool found a perfect chance to win the game after Cesar Azpilicueta missed his penalty by smashing it into the right post. However, Edouard Mendy managed to save Sadio Mane’s penalty to keep the Blues’ hopes of winning the game.
Two penalties later, Alisson Becker saved Mason Mount’s effort to provide a chance for Konstantinos Tsimikas to finish it off at Wembley.
The Japanese star sent Mendy the wrong way to complete his impressive campaign for the Reds as they celebrated their second title of the season.
