It couldn’t be in any other way, Diego Maradona’s wake was filled with chaos with thousands of supporters crying his death in Argentina.

Diego Maradona’s wake couldn’t be a modest and quiet affair in Argentina. The government should’ve known better when they made the decision to organize the late legend’s wake at the presidential Pink House in Buenos Aires.

Thousands of devoted supporters ignored the coronavirus health restrictions because they wanted to bid farewell to their hero. At an early age on Thursday, we could see lines that were miles in length of people who wanted to pay their respects. Initially, Maradona’s family decided to open the Pink House’s doors from the early morning until 4 pm.

However, the lines were nowhere near finished as several supporters were still waiting to get their chance to touch the idol’s casquet. As they saw how more people kept coming, the family decided to close the doors 15 minutes before the time they agreed upon. Maradona’s fans weren’t happy about this as chaos erupted outside of the presidential home.

Diego’s effect on the Argentina population.

Given that Argentina has a short-lived history, they don’t have many figures like Diego Maradona. In fact, we dare say Diego is the most important individual in the country’s history over other historic figures like Eva Peron or Carlos Gardel.

If you combine this devotion with the passion Argentina has for football, you get complete chaos. Diario Ole revealed that journalists inside the Pink House even feared for their lives because the fans were angry. They wanted to bid farewell to their idol and his family didn’t allow it. As of right now, the Argentina government decided to suspend Maradona’s wake until further notice.

Only if the fans do everything in an orderly manner will Diego’s family allow the wake to continue. The legend’s casquet was removed from the hall where it rested until things get under control. We will keep you posted on this event as soon as we get more updates.
