Chelse beat Lille 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their round-of-16 Champions League clash.

Chelsea took an important 2-0 lead in the round-of-16 of the Champions League with a win over Lille on Tuesday.

Goals from Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic saw Thomas Tuchel’s men defend their Champions League crown, while Lille were unable to find an equaliser despite holding firm.

The Blues made a bright start with Havertz getting close on multiple occasions, but was unable to find the back of the net.

He also saw a decent effort saved by Lille keeper Leo Jardim who did well to keep the ball from going in.

Chelsea injury concerns ahead of big weekend game

The evening was marred by two injuries that leave Chelsea sweating ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech limped off in the second half and had to be replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Saul Niguez, respectively.
